The Elite Team is Eagle Spirit Academy's challenge to the most committed students of Taekwondo. It is difficult to become a member, and it is difficult to remain a member. The Elite Team was designed for ESA students who are fully committed to the Academy and to their own success in the art and competition of Taekwondo.

The Elite Team demands proven skill, sacrifice, demonstrated perseverance, unwavering commitment, heart, faith, and an iron will. These requirements are not intended to prohibit, restrict or confine, but rather to give you a perspective of the Elite Team and to provide structure and organization so that you can perform at the highest possible level.

The most underrated fact about success at the National level, either Junior or Senior, is that the entire family must be on the same page concerning the requirements of each member of the Elite Team. The success of the Elite Team member is ultimately founded on the support of the parents in every aspect of this program, and with the faithful execution of all instructions given by the Coaches.

It should be no surprise that family sacrifices must be made in all areas, especially in financial support. As a family, you must decide how much value and worth this special opportunity has for you and your family. There is no dishonor in backing out due to lack of finances! We strongly respect those who feel the entire family cannot commit to the Elite Team training experience. If the entire family cannot commit to the demands of the Elite Team, then it will ultimately result in the failure of the team member being the best that he or she can be. However---where there is a will, there is a way.

There is a financial responsibility that must be met by each member of the Elite Team and their parents. These costs include but are not limited to lesson fees, training fees, a list of required equipment, other equipment as desired or required, all unexpected costs as they arise, travel, hotel accommodations, food, plane fare, registration fees, etc. The financial strain of this endeavor must be considered first and foremost when deciding if you want to be a member of the ESA Elite Team.

Here are some real-life examples of the commitment of an Elite Team member:

Elite Team Members:

  • do not arrive late to training, events, pick ups---to anything.
  • do not allow themselves to be injured in other sports or activities so that they cannot train and perform on the Team.
  • do not fail or fall behind in their academics.
  • are mature, responsible, and do not display inappropriate behavior.
  • do not fail to participate in ESA events and functions when directed by the Coaches.
  • have such a driving commitment to the Team that they come to training to watch, learn, and benefit by viewing other Elite Team members even when injured.
  • do not cross-train on their own.
  • are registered as USAT members.
  • compete in events and tournaments as directed by the Coaches.
  • obey the Coaches in all training matters including weight, diet, academics, attitude, sacrifice and self-denial.
  • are a Team. Nothing separates the members from the team.
  • do not allow social issues, personal issues, or differences of opinion to disrupt the Team.
  • are dedicated to master the craft of Taekwondo and routinely welcome the endurance of hardship, tribulation, and pain in order to achieve their goal.

We tell our athletes that they have a choice to make everyday: They can use the time they have that day toward achieving their goals or not. It's a simple choice. You get to decide how good you want to be. Speed, strength and athletic skills are developed---they are not genetic gifts. Some people have the ability to be stronger and faster than others, but everyone can improve their strength, speed and skills. If you want to be great, there are no shortcuts, no quick fixes, no 90 percent, no easy day, no time off and no excuses. There is only dedication, focus, and very hard work.

This is the path to greatness, and everyday you can choose whether or not to follow it.

"I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step." 1 Corinthians 9:26

Do you keep your eyes on the target, ignore distractions and temptations to get side-tracked, and stay focused on your primary goal in order to be most effective and make the most significant progress and impact?
